A glistening wonderland of coral atolls studded across the Indian Ocean, this is a water world paradise like no other, where the cerulean blue sea and cotton wool skies blend seamlessly. Discover our Maldives favourites

1. Amilla Fushi

There’s so much to adore here, and Amilla is absolutely one of our favourite hotels we’ve ever experienced.

Perfectly located in a UNESCO-listed World Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll, this stunning resort is a vision in white, blue and green. Crisp white architecture will make you swoon, whilst the dreamy blue pools, and even more heavenly blue waters, beg you to dive in and discover an underwater nirvana. On land, venture into lush green gardens, where palms sway and the only sounds are the birds in the trees. Amilla Fushi is the pinnacle of relaxed, contemporary chic blended with sheer luxury.

We’d recommend this resort to all-comers, as it offers something heavenly for everyone.

The beach houses and vast residences here, promising an island home like no other, and the gorgeous Aesop toiletries!

2. Soneva Jani

Welcome to the architect’s dream that is Soneva Jani.

Inspired by a word that means ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit, this spectacular resort encompasses a collection of vast overwater villas and on-land island sanctuaries set within a lagoon of crystal clear waters, fringed by white-sand beaches and blanketed in lush tropical greenery. The highlight of the islands that the resort calls home is the 5.6-kilometre private lagoon that surrounds it; an awe-inspiring azure spectacle that inspires a real sense of calm.

Constructed completely from sustainable materials, Soneva Jani is a love song to all things natural, whilst being truly luxurious.

Feeling like we were on the set of Waterworld, with those incredible sunsets, best enjoyed from your jaw-droppingly huge residence!

3. Soneva Fushi

The original Soneva resort, and the home of the iconic “no news, no shoes” philosophy that is often copied, but never bettered than it is here.

Soneva Fushi’s eco-luxe villas and residences are a castaway’s fantasy. Welcome to this uber-chilled paradise, where true desert island living will wow and entrance.

The resort’s down-to-earth characteristics are reflected in its nature-inspired architecture, and with possibly the best kid’s club we’ve ever seen in the world, this is a dream escape for families.

The true sense of being Robinson Crusoe, but at the same time being offered possibly the finest service we have ever experienced in a resort.

4. St. Regis Vommuli

There are not many tropical resorts in the world that offer such an impeccable level of luxury in such a stunning environment as St. Regis Vommuli.

The design is astounding, with an eco-luxe inspiration taken from island shapes, colours and forms. Voted the Indian Ocean’s “Leading Luxury Resort” in the 2017 World Travel Awards, the world is you oyster here, especially with the fantastic St. Regis Butler Service.

Explore the resort’s beautiful blue waters, enjoy a treatment at the jaw-dropping over-water spa, and watch the kaleidoscope of pinks and reds as the sun descends on this paradise island.

Everything! The style of this resort is like nowhere else on earth, but it was the whale-shaped bar that left us struck with awe – a dreamy place for your sundowners!

5. COMO Cocoa Island

Imagine a tiny piece of island paradise, where you can stroll barefoot from one blindingly white shore to the other in a few minutes.

Your arrival feels like coming home. Your accommodations are shaped like traditional Maldivian boats, or “dhonis”. Under those impeccable blue waters is a riot of colour and life, possibly the richest that we have seen in the Maldives. One restaurant serves delicious cuisine and a menu that changes daily. The pace is horizontal, and life feels very easy here, allowing a sense of true calm to wash over you.

We adore this little island, with the relaxed, unfussy and rustic luxury that it offers. There’s no wonder why it’s such a favourite for repeat visitors. The service here is second to none, with a team who offer such a sincere and warm welcome that you’ll never want to leave this picture-perfect haven.

6. COMO Maalifushi

This award-winning resort offers a paradisiacal idyll like nowhere else in the Maldives.

This is the only property located in the pristine Thaa Atoll, so if it’s the underwater world that appeals to you, then the diving and snorkelling here is unbeatable.
